Epoxy floor cost

Epoxy Flooring Cost Calculator

Build an epoxy-flooring budget from measured floor area using the coating-system price and installer rate you actually expect to pay.

Estimate project cost

Use rates from your supplier, installer or quote. ProjectCalcWorks does not insert a hidden national price assumption.

Floor preparation can matter as much as the epoxy itself

An epoxy-flooring estimate should distinguish coating material from concrete preparation. Grinding or shot blasting, moisture mitigation, crack repair and edge work can change the labor scope before primer, color coat, flakes or topcoat are applied.

Use the floor area as the common quantity, then model the coating and labor rates that match the specified system. Add moisture treatment, repairs or mobilization separately if the installer quotes them outside the per-square-foot price.

Compare complete project quotes

Epoxy quote comparison: add excluded costs before comparing

Two contractors can quote the same floor area but very different scopes. Add the costs you have verified are excluded before comparing totals. This is a worksheet for your own actual written quotes, not an estimate of market prices or a recommendation of an installer.

Contractor quote A
Contractor quote B

Enter your written quotes, or load a fictional example to understand the method.

Before comparing, inspect what the quotes actually include

Worked comparison (fictional rates, not market guidance)

For a fictional 500 sq ft garage, suppose quote A is $4,250 but expressly excludes $650 of required preparation, while quote B is $4,700 with that preparation already included. The adjusted totals are $4,900 ($9.80/sq ft) and $4,700 ($9.40/sq ft). Once both written scopes are verified as comparable, B is $200 lower in this hypothetical example. A bare $4,250 vs $4,700 comparison would conceal the missing work.

A cheaper number is not proof of a better installation, correct coating compatibility or sufficient moisture control. If the quote scopes are unknown, request clarifications before choosing. This tool stores no quote information on a server and does not estimate permit requirements, lifespan or warranties.

How this estimate works

Enter the floor area plus material and labor rates per square foot. Use fixed extras for grinding, crack repair, moisture mitigation, primers, topcoats or other quoted preparation.

total = adjusted material quantity × material rate + project quantity × labor rate + fixed extras

Example

A 500 sq ft floor at $2.50/sq ft material and $4/sq ft labor starts at $1,250 material and $2,000 labor before extras. Example rates are illustrative only; replace them with supplier or contractor pricing for your project.

Epoxy flooring cost per square foot

The blended per-square-foot result is most useful when two scenarios use the same measured floor area and coating scope. Keep grinding, crack repair, moisture treatment, primer, flakes and topcoat visible when they are priced outside the base coating or labor rate.

Epoxy flooring cost questions

Should floor preparation be included?

Yes. Enter preparation in fixed extras when grinding, repairs or moisture mitigation are quoted separately from the coating-system rate.

Does this choose an epoxy system for me?

No. Use the material and labor rates for the actual system you are considering and compare like-for-like coating scope between quotes.

Before coating a garage floor, verify the real job

Floor area is only one part of the project. Existing slab condition, moisture, surface preparation, kit coverage and work around shelving or vehicles can change the required work.
