Preview a bedroom makeover and estimate materials
Choose conceptual wall and flooring finishes, measure paintable walls and floor area, then enter your actual supplier prices to compare a materials-only budget before buying. This is a visual concept, not a photo rendering or contractor quote.
Choose the calculator that matches the material you are buying
Different materials are purchased in different units. Gravel and topsoil are commonly planned by volume; drywall by sheet count; flooring and tile by box coverage; paint by gallons; insulation by package or bag coverage; and fencing or decking by repeated layout units. The library keeps those purchase models separate so one generic formula does not hide the inputs that actually matter.
Start with the project category below, enter your measurements, and then use the exact product or supplier values shown on the package, data sheet or quote before ordering.

Turn a measured quantity into a project budget
If you already know the material quantity, continue with an editable cost calculator rather than starting the project estimate again.

How these tools are different
Exact geometry and unit conversions are handled in tested calculation libraries. Values that can vary by supplier, product or project—such as bulk density, carton coverage, sod coverage, seed rate, paint coverage, post spacing or waste—stay visible and editable rather than being hidden inside a generic answer.
That makes each result easier to audit. You can see whether a quantity came from geometry, from an exact unit conversion or from a product-specific value you entered yourself.
Read the calculation methodology or review the source register for the main references used across the site.
Material estimates are a planning step, not the final order
Use the calculator result as a quantity check against your project measurements. Before purchasing, compare it with final drawings, supplier units, package coverage, manufacturer instructions and any project-specific allowance for cuts, breakage, overlap, defects or unusable offcuts.
ProjectCalcWorks does not provide structural engineering or code approval. Layout and material estimators are intentionally separated from decisions that require a qualified professional or local authority.
Practical project planners
After choosing a material calculator, use these focused worksheets for layout, purchasing and renovation decisions.

Center equal-width frames along a measured wall with real gaps and a clearance check. Open the Gallery Wall Spacing Planner, then review safe mounting limits and anchor selection before making holes.
Plan paver edge restraint stock
Convert selected straight patio edges to linear feet and whole stock pieces; verify approved restraint details separately. Open the Patio Edge Restraint Planner · Read the full paver materials guide.
Balance edge cuts before laying a tile row
Compare equal end cuts and whole center tiles from your measured width, joint and perimeter clearances. Open the Tile Edge Cut Layout Planner · Read the bathroom tile selection guide · Estimate whole-project tile quantity.
Estimate primer and finish paint as separate purchases
Enter different primer and finish coat counts, manufacturer label coverage and prices to calculate gallons and whole cans. Use the Primer and Paint Quantity Planner · Read when a separate primer matters.

Compare matte, eggshell, satin and semi-gloss using surface type, cleaning and lighting, with stop states for leaks or unsound coatings. Try the Paint Finish Selector · Read the room-by-room guide.
Bathroom renovation: choose finishes, preview and estimate
