Use the tool that matches what you are buying
Gravel, topsoil and bulk mulch start with the same geometry: area multiplied by depth. That creates cubic feet, which can then be converted to cubic yards. The calculators keep those exact volume steps separate from variable values such as bulk density or bag size.
Paver quantity is different. It depends on the project area and the dimensions of the paver module you enter. Optional base and bedding quantities are calculated from depths that you provide; the site does not prescribe a construction depth for your soil, climate or installation system.
Why assumptions stay editable
Material calculators can look precise while quietly relying on a generic density, bag size, waste factor or installation detail. We avoid that pattern. Exact geometry is calculated automatically, but product- or site-specific inputs remain visible so you can replace them with supplier or project information.
